early FALL session
thursdays, September 16 – October 21, 2010

In the early fall session, we will discover the bountiful harvest using all our senses. We'll help harvest plants, explore the falling leaves, wander through tall prairie grasses, and examine fleeting insects.

Late Fall Session (seven-week session)
Thursdays, October 28 – December 16, 2010
(no class on Nov. 25)

In the late fall session, we will examine the kinds of fruits, vegetables, and trees that prosper in the cold, help harvest plants, and create art using fallen leaves. Participants should dress for the weather and be prepared to see how we prepare the Garden for a long and cold winter.

Early Winter Session
Thursdays, January 6 – February 10, 2011

In the early winter session, we will investigate the lives of plants and bugs during the coldest season, explore winter in the McDonald Woods, and discuss the hibernation habits of local birds and wildlife. Participants should be ready to venture outside and explore the snowy Garden.

Late Winter Session
Thursdays, February 17 – March 24, 2011

In the late winter session, we will observe the plants and animals transition from hibernation to activity and welcome the arrival of spring! Participants will start seeds for their spring gardens and prepare to nurture and grow their gardens in warmer and sunnier months.

These fun outdoor and indoor attractions offer kids in Chicago's North Shore suburbs a wide variety of activities that take advantage of the facilities and expertise at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
